Editorial Process Policy

1 – Submission of Manuscripts

The editorial process begins with the publication of the Call for Papers, previously approved by the Editorial Team.

In order for the corresponding author to access the Journal’s platform and upload the manuscript, they must obtain a username and password provided by Technical Support. To do so, they should send a request to revistadycs@uat.edu.mx.

In response, the corresponding author will receive the registration credentials for the Journal. In a Word document, the corresponding author must provide the personal and institutional information of each author, listed according to their order of contribution.

It is mandatory for each author to have a valid ORCID iD and to link it to their profile within this organization and on the Journal’s platform. The corresponding author must ensure that this information is correctly registered for all contributors to the manuscript, as it is an essential requirement for the continuation of the editorial process.

From this stage onward, communication between the authors and the Journal will take place through the discussion system available on the Journal’s platform. Authors will automatically receive email notifications regarding updates to the status of their submission.

2 – Preliminary Review

Following the closing of the call for papers, each submission will undergo a preliminary review by the Editorial Coordination for a period of up to five business days. This review aims to verify compliance with the thematic requirements of the call, assess the similarity percentage against previously published material, detect possible indications of the use of artificial intelligence tools through iThenticate, and evaluate compliance with the “Submission Preparation Checklist.”

Submissions that fail to comply with the editorial guidelines, exceed a similarity index of 20%, or involve the use of artificial intelligence tools without proper disclosure will be returned to the authors for correction or revision, as appropriate. Authors will have three to five business days to submit a revised version, highlighting all modifications in yellow.

3 – Peer review report

At this stage, the Editorial Team will send the submission for review to researchers working within the corresponding field of study, preferably members of the National System of Researchers (SNII), under a double-blind peer-review process. In the case of manuscripts authored by researchers affiliated with the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT), reviewers must be external to the institution.

Invitations to review must be answered within five business days. Otherwise, the Editorial Team will contact another reviewer, granting the same response period.

Once a reviewer accepts the invitation, they will have up to fifteen business days to complete the evaluation through the Journal’s platform using the Review Form for Articles and Reviews. In cases of conflicting recommendations, the Editorial Team will determine whether the manuscript should be sent to a third reviewer or whether it should be accepted or rejected based on the substance of the evaluations.

If reviewers provide recommendations, authors must address them within a maximum of ten business days and highlight all modifications in yellow.

If a reviewer requests to examine the revised version before a final decision is made, they will have five business days from notification of availability on the platform to assess the changes and communicate their opinion. Failure to respond within this period will be interpreted as tacit approval, and the manuscript will proceed to the next stage of the process.

If a reviewer expresses dissatisfaction with the revisions made, the Editor will determine whether the recommendations have been sufficiently addressed or whether the manuscript should be returned to the authors for further revision. In such cases, authors will have three business days to make the required changes. If the authors choose not to make additional revisions, they must provide a justification. The final decision regarding publication rests with the Journal’s Editorial Team.

4 – Editorial Process

Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, including the review of the translation of the title, abstract, keywords, figures, and/or tables. These activities are carried out within a period of five to ten business days.

5 – Production

At this stage, the manuscript enters the design and layout process, which may last up to five business days. The image accompanying the publication will be selected, and page proofs (galley proofs) will be sent to the corresponding author for verification of author names, institutional affiliations, postal codes, city information, and other formal aspects, as well as for final publication approval.

Authors will have three business days to review and approve the proofs. Failure to respond within this period will be interpreted as tacit approval. Nevertheless, the Journal may publish an erratum if the authors identify any errors after publication.

6 – Publication

The final stage of the editorial process consists of publishing the manuscript in the volume and issue corresponding to the current call for papers.

The Journal remains open to receiving submissions between calls for papers.
